Chandigarh derives its name from the "Chandi Mandir" temple located in the vicinity of the site chosen for the town. The city was called "Chandigarh-The City Beautiful" by the deity 'Chandi', the goddess of power, and a fort of 'garh' beyond the temple. Chandigarh is known for its tree-lined boulevard and modern infrastructure, a town and union territory. Chandigarh is also one of the fastest-growing cities in India. Rock Garden-
The Rock Garden, located in Sector
1 of Chandigarh, is a large open-air exhibition hall displaying sculptures made
of urban and industrial waste built and executed by Nek Chand, a former
Chandigarh Road Inspector. Located between the popular Sukhna Lake and the
Capitol Building, it is a must-see spectacle! Also known as Nek Chand's Rock
Garden.
The Rock Garden exhibition area is divided into three distinct phases that have different kinds of installations and embellishments in them. Each step deals with a particular form of installation and it is a real pleasure to walk through them. The maker has completely redefined art and design from terracotta pots, light fixtures, and even broken toilet pots, Mr Nek Chand!
Rose Garden-
Rose Garden is a flowering exhibit
located in Chandigarh sector 16 that showcases about 825 varieties of flowers
and 32,500 varieties of trees and medicinal shrubs. This garden is spread over
30 acres and is covered with an exquisite range of flowers, which makes it very
popular among visitors and nature lovers, also known as Zakir Hussain Rose
Garden after the former President of India. The best time to visit the Rose
Graden, Chandigarh, is between February and March, as during this season the
flowers are in full bloom. During these months, the Rose Festival also takes
place, making it a pleasant time to visit. It is Asia's largest garden of its
kind and was established in 1967 under the leadership of MS Randhawa, the First
Chief Commissioner.
In reality, trees and medicinal plants are the most noteworthy features of the garden. It is neatly systematically planted by experienced gardeners and serves as a great place to wander around and relax peacefully. When the flowers are in full bloom in February and March, the Rose Garden is a sight to see. Only the presence of the misty mountains in the background and a beautiful fountain that is aglow with colourful lights in the evening intensifies the beauty of this garden. The Rose Garden is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city of Chandigarh, with its soothing atmosphere and verdant beauty.
Sukhna Lake-
Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh, nestled
at the foot of the Shivalik Hills, paints a beautiful picture. Stretching for a
3 sq. distance. Km., Sukhna Lake is a man-made lake and is the only one in the
city of its kind formed by damming the seasonal Sukhna Choe (Stream) flowing
down the Shivalik Hills in 1958. In reality, Le Corbusier, the architect of
Chandigarh - India's first planned town - believed that this lake will be the

Government Museum-
The Chandigarh Government Museum
and Art Gallery are one of India's most popular museums that speaks of the past
and partition of India. The museum was established in August 1947 and is

esteemed.

Located on a 43-acre extension,
this Ramgarh water amusement park is the largest in North India. It has one
activity pool, three landing pools and a wave pool, a cluster of different
shapes and sizes of water slides, which makes for a lovely trip for water
lovers. The lazy river trip, splash pool, aqua dance, slides such as white multi-lane,
typhoon tunnel, white slide, red dragon slide, run away raft slide and pendulum
slide are other common draws.
Terraced Garden-
Chandigarh's Terraced Gardens is a
popular and much-loved tourist attraction located in Sector 33 of the main
city. The attraction boasts a multitude of colourful and vibrant flowers, the

Botanical Garden-
The botanical gardens, consisting of two gardens, spread over Chandigarh and are adorned by a large array of exotic and evergreen plant species that are systematically arranged. One is situated on the campus of Punjab University and the other is located between Sector-1 Sukhna Lake and Rock Garden.
Forest Reserve-
The forest reserve of Nepali and Kansal, spread over 3245 hectares, is pregnant with floral and wildlife, many of which have been declared threatened. Neelgais, antelopes, jahares, jackals, and hyänas are some of the common animals here. You will require prior approval from the Forest Department to explore the wilderness if you are planning to camp here.
Garden of Silence-
The Garden of Silence, located in
Bhagwanpura, Chandigarh, is a meditative space housing a huge Buddha idol. In
lush green surroundings with a spectacular view of the Shivalik Ranges in the
distance, the garden swears by its name and provides a calm and quiet
environment for meditation.
